Apprenticeship

In the Pennsylvania Laborers’ Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program, construction craft laborers receive on-the-job training and classroom courses from experienced instructors in construction language, care and safe use of tools of the trade, O.S.H.A., and First Aid/CPR. Applications are available on a continuous basis. All applicants accepted into the Apprenticeship Program will receive a gift package of construction safety gear. Pennsylvania Laborers' Training Center Construction Safety Icon

Construction Safety

We teach and enforce OSHA's construction health and safety requirements within our facility to ensure the well-being of our members and recognize and minimize job-site hazards.

First Aid/CPR Training

We offer hands-on First Aid, CPR, and AED training sessions developed by the American Red Cross. All our instructors are certified, and renewal is required every two years.

Hazard Communication

Hazard communication familiarizes our members with the HAZCOM OSHA Standard 1910.1200 and Right-To-Know regulations and helps protect them from hazardous situations.

Flagging Certification

Learn flagging control techniques to help protect project personnel and provide safe, courteous, and authoritative directions to traffic seeking passage through the work area.

Scaffolding Systems

Our instructors teach techniques, rules, and regulations on ladders and scaffolds. Learn the fundamentals and hands-on procedures for building various types of scaffolding systems.

Rod (Rebar) Tying

Learn the hand tools utilized for placing and securing rebar rods and the various types, shapes, and diameters of reinforcing steel, with a heavy emphasis on layout and framework.

Qualifications

The terms of the program are that each Apprentice complete 4,000 hours of on-the-job training and a minimum of 300 hours of related classroom instruction.

Apply

All potential apprentices must submit an application online or in writing.

Age

Be 18 years of age or older when admitted. Be in good health or be able to pass a pre-job physical should one be required.

Education

Have a high school diploma or GED.

NOTE:  Admittance to selection test requires proof of High School Diploma/GED and valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

License

Have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and dependable transportation.

Citizenship

Be a citizen of the United States or a legal alien.

Residence

Have been a resident of any Pennsylvania county for the past (6) months except for: Bucks, Chester, Delaware,  Montgomery, & Philadelphia.

Test

Take a written Selection Test (Test administered at the Training Center in Saxonburg, PA)

08

Interview

Participate in an interview session (Interviews will be held at the Training Center in Saxonburg, PA)

Drug Test

Pass a certified drug test before final acceptance.

10

Welcome

All applicants accepted into the Apprenticeship Program will receive a gift package of construction safety gear.
